At North Sydney District Junior Cricket Club, we prioritise creating a safe, friendly, and fair environment where all our junior players can enjoy cricket. Our commitment to Cricket NSW's Fair Play policy reflects our dedication to inclusiveness and positive sports experiences.
We encourage you to review the Fair Play declaration and the Code of Conduct, which outline our expectations for players and parents. Sharing these with your children helps reinforce the values we uphold. We are proud of our club’s reputation for fair play and respectful conduct, often praised by our opponents. Our focus is on effort, learning, and improvement, rather than a "win at all costs" mentality, or to look for victory on technicalities. That is not an environment that encourages improvement, and certainly not the reputation we have, nor want. Success comes from hard work in training and learning from analysing what were the shortfalls were when games are lost.
Parents are key role models. In potential heated situations, please stay calm, maintain perspective, and resolve issues through appropriate channels, such as contacting the Committee. How you approach such situations has an influence on our young players, and it’s important that they learn this in a supportive and positive environment.
For our coaches and managers, you will understand the importance of obtaining a Working With Children Check. It doesn't take too long to complete and protecting our juniors is a top priority.
Inclusiveness is vital to our club culture. Every player has a role to play, regardless of skill level. The key to a successful team is to ensure everyone has a role so they are engaged and motivated. Decisions should always be fair and never based on anything that would make a player feel isolated or discriminated against, including gender, race, or any other discriminatory factor.
If you have concerns regarding player safety or inclusiveness, please reach out to our Child Safety/Fair Play Officer, Sarah Wise.
Thank you for supporting the integrity of our club and encouraging fair play, whether as a coach, manager, umpire, scorer, or supportive parent.
Kind regards,
Karl Riseborough
